Artist Bio
Julia Strait is a glass artist obsessed with vibrant color. Her primary focus is to create unique dotstacked pendants that find a way to people around the globe. Over the last dozen years, Strait has held flameworked classes around the United States teaching the dotstacking technique as well as numerous demonstrations on the torch. Her most recent class was held at the American Scientific Glassblowers Society Symposium in Washington 2023. She is a Vice Chair of the Southwest Section of the ASGS and will be holding a class at the 2025 Symposium. Strait began her glass path in college upon discovering the hot shop at West Texas A&M University in 2009. While majoring in printmaking, in 2010 her family suffered the profound loss of her father, creating a vast void in her heart. A well-timed study abroad trip to the Czech Republic later the same year would fill that void by being fully immersed in studying glass. A final major change would set forth a path of love and study for this exquisite and life changing material. Post-graduation, Strait relocated to Fort Worth Texas to become a kiln-formed glass instructor teaching fusing & slumping at SiNaCa Studios School of Glass & Gallery. There she met talented artists skilled in borosilicate and soft glass, as well as her husband, Randall. They both work in borosilicate glass & have a private home studio in Arlington, Texas where most of their time is spent, along with the company of their little dog, Mr.Dot.
Working with glass has transformed me for the better. Creating dotstack pendants as well as collaborations with talented artists is my life's passion & I'm grateful to share my creations with you.
